Workplace Mediation Program

Resolutions Northwest helps groups and organizations manage difficult conversations and address conflict in meaningful and productive ways. We ensure that the mediation process is structured and managed to facilitate progress towards the identified goals and objectives. We also create a space for group members to listen and honor others' perspectives.

We believe that empowering employees leads to improved relationships and innovative solutions. Our job is to use mediation as a tool to help agencies and organizations create safety and creatively brainstorm solutions to conflict. RNW's agency and organization mediation program offers mediation services for diverse organizations. We work with community-based groups, non-profit organizations, businesses and government agencies, by providing services customized and tailored solutions including:

  • Workplace conflict resolution skills training
  • Consultation in developing an organizational mediation program
  • One-to-one mediation services
  • Strategic planning
  • Dialogue and deliberation processes
  • Group mediation and conflict resolution processes
  • Skills training in communication, effective group processes, intercultural communication and conflict resolution

This service is offered on a fee-for-service basis. Additionally, some organizational mediation services are provided free to community groups under our contract with the City of Portland's Office of Neighborhood Involvement.  Donations offset the discount rate offered to nonprofit organizations.

Our agency and organization mediation program uses professional staff mediators. In cases where more than one professional mediator is required, Resolutions Northwest is able to accommodate that request at a higher hourly rate negotiated based on the needs of the project.

How our Workplace Mediation program works

  1. The first step is to contact Stuart Watson, Neighborhood Mediation Program Coordinator, at stuart@resolutionsnorthwest.org or 503-595-4890 x101.  Stuart will assess your needs to determine whether your group might qualify for no-cost services, or to develop a proposed scope of services and rate quote.
  1. If your project does qualify for consideration under our City of Portland's Office of Neighborhood Involvement contract, we serve as a liaison with the City to create an implementation plan.

Facilitation services are provided in English and Spanish by bi-lingual staff and volunteers. We also offer our services with interpreters for all other languages in partnership with other community-based organizations who have additional language capacities.
