Why I joined the RNW Board: I am very passionate about conflict resolution. If it were up to me, children would learn conflict resolution skills starting in kindergarten...perhaps replacing math which has been far less useful in my life than good mediation skills.

Why I joined the RNW Board: As a pastor, my emphasis is on building intergenerational and multiracial community and being present with folks who struggle individually with identity and collectively with the natural tensions that emerge at the intersections of social justice work. Resolutions Northwest helps expand my awareness of best practice mediation and facilitation and is a place where I can contribute my skills and experience with communities of color and young people.

Why I joined the RNW Board: I was a career litigator in the Washington, D.C. and San Francisco offices of a major law firm. In that capacity, I had many experiences in the ADR field, most particularly in mediation. I was also trained as a mediator at UC Berkeley. AFter retiring in 2007 and moving to Portland, I learned that RNW was the most substantial provider of community mediation services in the state. Being on the board has kept me in touch with meaningful opportunities to serve my new community in a manner consistent with my experience and interests.

Why I joined the RNW Board: I want to use my experience and energy to advance the field of mediation and Restorative Justice, towards the goal of peacemaking and community building. Resolutions Northwest has a reputation of being one of the oldest and most successful programs in the country, and I feel fortunate to find such an organization in the city to which I recently relocated. Staying involved in the field allows me to get updated on the state of the art and to learn about new ideas and continue to pursue my passion for the work.

Why I joined the RNW Board: Mediation is the key to our justice system. Engaging in meaningful communiction is much more effective than litigating, which our society loves to do. I enjoy working through things rather than forcing issues that should naturally resolve themselves.
