Annual Peacemakers Conference
2010 Oregon Peacemakers Conference
This year will mark the 15th annual Oregon Peacemakers Conference!
On Thursday, October 21st, 2010, hundreds of young peacemakers from all over Oregon will descend upon the University of Portland for this historic event. The ongoing goal of the conference is to equip middle and high school age youth with the ability to spread peace, become stronger leaders in their community, and generally, showcase Oregon’s young people who are leading the way in creating a more just, inclusive, and peaceful society.
The keynote speaker for this year will be the award-winning author Trudy Ludwig. Her keynote address, Friends, Cliques, and Power Plays: Addressing Relational Aggression, is sure to inspire youth to examine and create a positive impact with those who we are closely interconnected. Local artists, activists, and practitioners in the field of conflict resolution will be volunteering their time to lead a variety of workshops and breakout sessions that are all geared to address the needs most pressing today’s youth.
The Oregon Peacemakers Conference continues to provide an essential role in the development and maintenance of restorative, transformative, and empowerment based practices in schools, in the lives of peacemakers, and everyone they come into contact with. This confluence of theory and practice that is accessible to youth ensures that we continue to move toward a nonviolent and peaceful future.
