Interrupting White Supremacy Culture (White Learners): A Workshop for Leaders (Oct 2021)

Starts: 2021-10-14 13:30:00 | Ends: 2021-10-14 16:30:00

Are you trying to be an anti-racist leader? Are you afraid of falling into the same old patterns of inequity?

While anyone is welcome, this session is designed as a learning space for white participants.

The COVID pandemic has been one of the latest amplifiers of every injustice that is built into our systems. As leaders, times of crisis like these offer the temptation to default to the way things have always been done – and the opportunity to transform your outcomes now and into the future.

Come together with other decision-makers to:

  • Share how it feels to try to lead for racial justice in the skin you’re in
  • Reflect on who is being most impacted
  • Notice how white supremacy is showing up in your workplace – or inside you – and discover ways you can shift

This workshop is designed for people in leadership positions – board members, executives, and others who are making decisions for your organizations. Don’t expect a packaged training or a businesslike strategy session. Instead, this will be a facilitated conversation in small groups for folks who have at least begun to grasp the ubiquitous nature of white supremacy culture and have begun to implement racial equity in their organizations. You will leave with something you can apply to your work…and it might not be what you expected!

“It felt really honest and without pretenses.”

“It felt very positive to hear that the challenges I am facing in my organization are not isolated experiences, but part of the experience of other leaders. I got some ideas for how to approach things, and I really valued the circling back on our desired outcomes. LOVED the sun activity.”

“I’m grateful to be in a community. As I was looking for an equity-centered professional development opportunity, I chose this workshop because there was something about it that felt scary or edgy, and I wanted to turn toward that. I’m glad I did.”

“I now better understand that it’s about me changing and me changing institutions. I need to take responsibility!”

Thursday, October 14, from 1:30-4:30 pm PT
