Supporting student leadership in restorative justice, equity, and community. For student clubs and groups who are working towards social justice, leadership or student voice.
 
The YouthFirst Conference 2018 is a leadership training for high school students interested in student voice and social justice. Students attend workshops, engage in facilitated discussions, and network with other youth-led groups and ambitious individuals. The event goes from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, March 10th, and both lunch and snacks are provided. Established high school clubs and organizations are encouraged to come as a team, but individuals are welcomed as well. Space is limited, so register soon using the link below.

Workshops

  • Introduction to Restorative Justice: Workshop that teaches how restorative justice connects to relationships and racial equity
  • Cultural Competency Panel and Discussion: A  panel of professionals who each engage in unique social justice work around topics such as racial equity, LGBTQ+ communities, and disability rights.
  • Making Your Voice Heard: A student led workshop that informs teens about how to build campaigns, speak to administrators or representatives, and implement change in their communities.

Event Organizers

Abigail AlvarezAbigail is a senior in high school, and possesses a deep passion for social justice and youth activism. She is the assistant policy director at Oregon Student Voice, and the founder of All Peers United, an integrated after school program for students with and without disabilities to build community in an accessible and inclusive environment. She has also worked on the Oregon Youthline, a teen-to-teen crisis hotline, for over three years and spoke at the Youth Suicide Prevention Conference in 2016. Outside of activism, Abigail is a musician and varsity athlete in her school, and plans to continue each of these passions in college and beyond.
