“I was lucky enough to spend my summer interning with Resolutions Northwest and was given the opportunity to turn my dream of planning a student leadership conference into a reality … This is the biggest project I have ever coordinated, and I am forever grateful to RNW for believing in me and helping make this all possible.”
– Abby Alvarez

“It was a great work environment. It didn’t feel like we were just there to get coffee; we actually felt important.”
– Rimona Araya

Dear Friends & Supporters,

On March 10, 2018, two RNW Youth Interns, Rimona Araya and Abby Alvarez, launched the YouthFirst Conference, a youth-organized and youth-led conference that brought together over 60 youth from the Portland Metro Area to talk about youth voice, leadership, equity and restorative justice.

I’m writing today to ask for your support in funding three Summer Youth Interns to plan and facilitate the 2019 conference and a video production project.

RNW has been offering paid youth internships since 2015, inspired by our former Executive Director, Betsy Coddington. After dedicating over 20 years to RNW, Betsy wanted to leave a legacy of support and opportunity for youth in Portland. Each summer since, RNW has brought together youth interns to work on a project. This year’s projects will be the 2019 Youth Conference and a video production project to bring voice and film to local social justice stories.

Here is how you can help us meet our goal of $4,000 to fund three RNW Youth Interns:

  • $1,200 for one full youth intern summer stipend
  • $500 for conference food and t-shirts
  • $100 for one week of 12-week summer stipend
  • $75 for video editing software for project
  • $50 for transportation for youth interns

Thank you for your generous support! [Give]

Christina Albo
Executive Director
