Land Acknowledgement
“We acknowledge that Resolutions Northwest occupies the traditional lands of the indigenous nations and peoples, including the Chinook, Molalla, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Stl’pulmsh (Cowlitz), Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla, and many others who were in deep connection and relationship with each other, the land, water, and all living beings in this region. We honor their resilience, cultures, traditions, and contributions to this place we call home.
We also recognize the ongoing effects of settler colonialism, forced assimilation, and cultural erasure on indigenous communities, as well as the contemporary challenges of environmental degradation, climate change, and social injustice that disproportionately affect indigenous peoples.
We commit to engaging in ongoing learning, listening, and relationship-building with the indigenous peoples throughout Oregon and leading and contributing to calls to action that center their perspectives, voices, and leadership in our services of restorative justice, mediation, and racial equity training and consultation and our work of advancing racial justice through honest dialogue and systems change.
May we honor and respect the land and its original caretakers and seek to be responsible guests on this earth.”
